The constant mental tug-of-war between grounding myself here and the thought of abandoning everything to return to Kalmykia left me paralyzed. I knew that my existence was incompatible with the regime back home, so I kept pushing forward.
In my search for stability, I took on a part-time role as a teacher assistant at a kindergarten.
Keeping the same choreography of transitions: work - shop - home.
This was my first real encounter with Germany's care system, its promises of integration, and the reality that was far from what had been promised.
It was during this time that I experienced my first burnouts.
